We are trying to get parts together for a timing belt change on our 1992 Transporter 2.4 diesel AAB, body type 70x0B, but I'm having an extremely difficult time finding them . Part of the problem is the engine serial number, pretty much all the parts I'm finding onilne for the van are AAB Audi 100 (3D: 08/89-12/90, AAS: 05/91-07/94), Volkswagen Transporter (T4) 2.5 R5 TDI 65-121kW This 2.5 litre 'row' five engine (R5), wholly designed and developed by Audi, was the first Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine in 1989, initially used in the Audi 100. This engine was also used in some Volvo Cars models in the 1990s. Re: vw t4 2.4 NON-turbo deisel starting problems in cold. Even with one faulty glowplug these engines are very hard to start. Large fuse on R/H side with heavy red wires just under bonnet is main feed for glowplugs. Check for 12 volts with glowplug light on. then as said above ampmeter in line should read 50 amps.

went out and purchased the locking kit £38.00 + vat. changed both belts and the water pump, new tensioner and all, perfect starts first time no smoke no rattles (yet). the water pump had been slaughtered with a massive ammount of play (i wondered what was rattling) and was ready for falling apart. locking kit for sale £30.00 inc P + P.
There is this old T4 van thats been standing for a while. It would be useful to have a van to haul stuff in. I don't have any, and all my buddies have nice vans, but this is just a beat up old piece of shit for carrying stuff to the dump and not worrying about denting it. It appears to be a 2.4 5-cylinder n/a diesel. . 122 190 338 174 128 363 349 331 223
